A Romance Like No Other

Everyone desires to be romanced, to have someone that truly understands and “gets” who they are. While human relationships are short-sighted and unable to understand this desire of being known that runs deep in every one of us, there is a relationship that does fully understand.

The Trinity. They fully understand every human heart.

God the Father grieved over Adam and Eve’s poor choice in the Garden. They sinned and God had to expel them from His presence. A holy, sovereign God cannot tolerate any shenanigans from His creation. Since Genesis 3, every person born is sinful which means we all fall short of God’s sovereign plan. We are in exile from heaven’s doors. You and I need a way back, but how?

There is only ONE way home, and God the Son CHOSE to enter into sin’s domain, remain sinless (which reveals God’s authority over all of creation), and become the vehicle that leads every person back to God. Jesus came to restore what Satan and sin stole in the Garden.

Jesus resurrecting on the cross is the catalyst to being romanced by God. You and I will experience a romance like no other when we CHOOSE to receive this gift of salvation. In receiving this gift, every person must confess that they fall short of God due to sin. We must repent of sin and turn to God. We are called to follow Jesus and study His Word. Essentially, we change how we live.

It begins in our hearts by faith. From their, God the Holy Spirit helps us to change our thinking and reprioritize our lives. If your life has things that are not pleasing to God or you deem something more important than Him, He will guide you to remove such things from your life. In its place, He will fill your life with things that do please God.

God takes you on an adventure when you align yourself with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will romance your heart in ways that will blow your socks off. God will thoroughly impress, overwhelm, and excite you (definition from idioms.thefreedictionarycom). So much so, that you will desire Jesus more and more in your life.

From Isaiah 41:17-20, notice how God romances a heart that desires Christ:

1When you realize your need for Christ, you humble yourself at the foot of the cross; see verse 17. You realize there is nothing in this world that will quench the longings in your heart.

2When you come to Christ, the Lord will answer and begin the most wonderful relationship with you.

3God will never abandon you.

4God will make a way for you where your life is filled with heavenly things that are eternal. He helps you to trade temporal blessings for eternal ones; see verse 18.

5God will plant a new life within you that is strong like trees.

(taken from Never Forgotten Always Loved, April 6) “When God takes our lives, He turns a wasteland into a forest. He puts within us the cedar (associated with worship), the acacia (associated with service), the myrtle (associated with fragrance), the olive (associated with anointing), the pine (associated with consistency), the fir (associated with praise), and the cypress (associated with fruitfulness).”

God says, “I am doing this so all who see this miracle will understand what it means – that it is the Lord who has done this, the Holy One of Israel who created it.”20

When you allow God to romance you, you become a miracle. As others watch your relationship with Christ, they will desire to have what you have. And in these desires, God will also speak to their hearts and woo them to His Son where a romance like no other can begin.

“God has invited you into partnership with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:9)

Have a blessed Easter week-end. The Son of God died for you, rose up from the grave for you, and loves you with an everlasting love. This is what life is about. Nothing more, nothing less.
