“This must be a magnificent Temple because our God is greater than all other gods. But who can really build Him a worthy home? Not even the highest heavens can contain Him! So who am I to consider building a Temple for Him, except as a place to burn sacrifices to Him?” (2 Chronicles 2:5-6)
These are the words of the newly crowned king of Israel, Solomon. His father, David, built a strong foundation of faith when He was king, and through this father and son, God used them to build a physical structure for God to reside in so people can come and worship Him.
God was making Himself more readily available for His children.
Fast forward through the Old Testament into the New Testament and you learn of the origin of Christmas. God coming down Himself in a human body to walk side-by-side with His creation. Why? Because of His undying love for every baby conceived inside a mother’s womb. You and I were formed tenderly by His hands, given life, and brought forth with great care. To do what? To give God glory for the great things He has done.
You are worthy to be used by God. Believe it!
As you prepare yourself for Christmas, may you seek the Lord in such a way where you can have the attitude of Solomon. God was BIG in his eyes. Having the opportunity to build something for Him caused every part of his being to respond in awe. He couldn’t help but walk in obedience.
What does your faith look like? How BIG is God in your life?
No matter where you are spiritually, God is gracious to meet you there and move your forward. He so desires for you to walk as as one with Jesus each and every day. And as you grow in faith by engaging in all three persons of the Trinity, you develop a Christmas attitude. You gain an attitude of gratitude with a heart that follows the King of kings and the Lord of lords. You react like Solomon with sheer joy. You become surrendered like Paul which aided in him writing Philippians from a prison cell. You respond like Peter when life gets hard and tiring and you desire to walk away from God, “At this point, many of His disciples turned away and deserted Him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, ‘Are you also going to leave?’ Simon Peter replied, ‘Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and we know You are the Holy One of God.'” (John 6:66-69)

No matter what you are facing, allow God to use it for His glory. Allow Him to teach you in the dark. Look for Him throughout the pages of His Word. Seek His presence for you will indeed find Him. He will become BIG to you. Face your fear of, “Who am I that God would even look at me as well as consider me for His Kingdom?” It’s difficult to face your own sins, but God will be found faithful and just to forgive you; see 1 John 1:9. It’s rather humbling to admit your own faults, but when placed before the throne of God in brokenness, you are met with perfect love, grace and mercy by the One who created you. He acquits you of all iniquities that keeps you from God and He fills you with His very presence. His love reunites your soul with His.
Embrace Jesus and learn His ways and see how a Christmas attitude will develop within your soul.
