Out of all the weeks of the year, this week is one in which you don’t want to overlook the obvious. It’s Holy Week. It’s the chain of events that lead up to the greatest love story ever! While you may know the story, how much of the story has transformed you?
It’s a story that isn’t to be just read, but to be experienced. It’s the story that has infilterated the world. Look at what Jesus tells his friend Martha in John 11:25-26, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in Me and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this Martha?”
Jesus is asking every person this same question. Do you believe, I mean really believe? Is your life reflecting this transformation from being dead in sin to alive in Christ?
“He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By His wounds you are healed. Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now, you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.” (1 Peter 2:24-25)
Three things on this side of heaven are vying for your heart. These three things will keep you overlooking the obvious that you need to turn and face Christ, repent of your sins, and follow Him. The first thing is this world, it is in bondage to sin and refuses to follow the Creator of the earth. Loving the world will keep your overlooking the obvious. Second, there is a nemesis called Satan. He detests God and His ways and He is out to take your faith down. He desires for nobody to follow Christ! Finally, you, yourself, will be a hindrance. Your flesh will never follow Christ on its own. Sin is too powerful, but when Jesus gets involved, He is the only one who can take down all three of these faith killers.

These three faith killers will aid in you ignoring God, causing you to overlook the obvious.
Look at what God says in Romans 4:24-5:2, “God will also count us as righteous if we believe Him, the One who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was handed over to die because of our sins, and He was raised to life to make us right with God. Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.”
How can celebrating Easter be all about Jesus this year? The world is full of counterfeits that cause His people to overlook the obvious. Satan loves the Easter the bunny and chocolate eggs. I will leave you with this, “And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with Him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and He will never die again. Death no longer has any power over Him. When He died, He died once to break the power of sin. But now that He lives, He lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus. Do not let sin control the way you live. Do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.” (Romans 6:8-14)
Have a blessed Resurrection Sunday! The Sovereign God is the Living God! Amen!
