God Hears My Heart

As I was waking up with my dog snuggled by my legs to keep warm on this cold Minnesota morning, God and I said, “It’s showtime!” For the past 18 months, I have been creating momentum on social media for this very day. My book, “God Hears My Heart,” is now available for pre-order. By the end of March, it will become available to purchase. Writing this book has been an undertaking for over 4 years.

I am very excited to share my story with everyone. My story is God’s story. He has been with me even before I was born. He has been with you too, read Psalm 139:13-16 and be encouraged. I want you to know that God is a personal God. He is not up in heaven looking down and judging you every time you mess up. He does not keep score, weighing your good and bad.

God is intimate, loving, and gracious.

His heart’s desire is for you to look up, to look up and see how He has never left your side. He wants you to know that His love covers all of your sins. By the shed blood of His Son, you are made clean, and given a new heart that is alive to the beautiful Trinity. You have God the Son that saves you. You have God the Father who tenderly loves you unconditionally. You also have God the Spirit who leads you home. The Spirit is your life coach. Listen to Him and you will always be in the right place at the right time.

My story began in Upper Michigan. I am the youngest of eight children, and I grew up in the Lutheran faith. When I was 13, my brother shared the love of Jesus with me. I remember saying yes to Jesus for I understood that I was a sinner. At this time, God helped me to understand His truths. I became more aware of right and wrong. Jesus became my Savior.

My first year of college, I moved to Minneapolis and lived with my brother, the one who shared Christ with me, and attended a fashion college. For ten months, I experienced Christ in relationship form by watching my brother and his family live out their faith. It was raw and real, and I desired to want to know more.

God planted a seed within my heart, one which God was going to mature within me.

Realizing that fashion design wasn’t my calling, but graphic design was, I moved back home and attended Northern Michigan University. On the second day of class I met Rob. He has become my woodsy warrior. He has been for almost 37 years. We dated for 4 1/2 years and will be married for 32 years this April.

Marriage was going to be the catalyst in God teaching me how walk with Him intimately and personally. Jesus was going to become my Lord.

This was taken April 15, 1989.

After we got married, Rob’s job took us from St. Paul down to Oklahoma City. God was placing me in a foreign land with a new husband. I soon learned that my life was like Abraham in the Bible. God called Abraham to go to a land that was unfamiliar where He had to follow God. Read Hebrews 11:8-10 and Genesis 12 to learn more.

While I was a young believer when I got married, Rob was not at the time. I soon found that there are greater hardships when two are not yoked together spiritually. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 teaches this. Despite disobeying God and marrying Rob before he became a believer, God never let go of me. He never turned his back on me. He loved me right where I was. He heard my cries for Rob to become a believer.

Five years later, when our son was born, Rob saw God. We were blessed with our daughter a couple years after that. From this time to the present, God has been found faithful towards me, He has been faithful towards Rob, and He has been found faithful in our marriage.

Rob and I brought baggage into our marriage. Thankfully, God taught us how to communicate, how to fight fairly, and to never give up. We have had moments, many of them, where it would have been easier to quit, but when God never quits on you, you keep going.

The root of God’s love is commitment. He never leaves us, nor will He ever forsake us, see Hebrews 13:5. God calls you to live committed to whatever His will is for you. Whatever situation you find yourself in, whether by chance or choice, God can change you and help you to flourish right where you are. God has the capability of changing your situation, especially if you are not safe or healthy. Trust Him for He knows what you need more than you do. Believe Him for He knows what lies ahead. Follow Him for He will never steer you wrong.

God will stand up for you, fight for you, and help you to become who you were meant to be.

God stands by me, He fights for me, He continually teaches me through His Word, and He has proven Himself to me over and over and over. He will do the same for you.

God never leaves you, ever.

Be encouraged by my book. My prayer is that you discover God’s amazing love like I have. He is waiting for you. What are you waiting for? Begin the greatest love story ever, you and Jesus. Do you know God but He’s calling you to go deeper with Him? Jump in! I promise you, you will not regret it, for God hears your heart.
