Every season of life comes with challenges. Challenges that cause us to ponder, “What do we do now?” Raising a family leads to this question often. Changes at your job could cause you to wonder if you need to search for a new job. My husband and I are in the empty-nesting season. We are facing this question. Rob retired from his job last July and while we have enjoyed it, Rob became more antsy when winter rolled around. He feels like he needs more meaningful work to do so he is job searching both local and out of state. We are willing to move, especially if it gets us closer to our children and grandsons.
Moving in this season of life comes with freedom and challenges. We would be uprooting ourselves after 23 years of living in one place and starting over in a new state. It takes awhile to make deep friendships, get settled in a church, while reestablishing doctors, a vet, and new hairdresser, just to name a few.
But, praise God that as believers, there is no need to fret nor become weary for the Lord goes before us preparing our way. He knows what we should do for He has our tomorrows already planned! In Hebrews 11:8-9, “It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where He was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith, for he was like a foreigner, living in tents.”
Our entire lives are to be lived by faith in God.
Take a moment and read all of Hebrews 11. Be encouraged by all the people who faced situations where they pondered, “What do we do now?” Then they watched God show up. “By faith, these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them…their weakness was turned into strength, and they became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.”33-34

God understands all the questions we face, and His faithfulness in answering them is unparalleled to anything or anyone else! When we seek God, He answers! When we trust Jesus and follow the Holy Spirit in obedience, God opens up heaven’s doors and allows us to experience abundant living in our answered prayers.
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” (Proverbs 21:5 ESV)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV)
“Oh, the joys of the those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do. But not the wicked! they are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.” (Psalms 1)
Trust God and let Him lead you from questioning to knowing. He will lead you valiantly into your next season and equip you within the season you are currently in. You are in good hands with God.
