Our Living Hope

Phil Wickham wrote amazing lyrics for the song, Living Hope. Here is the beginning, “How great the chasm that lay between us. How high the mountain I could not climb. In desperation, I turned to heaven and spoke Your name into the night. Then through the darkness Your loving-kindness tore through the shadows of my soul. The work is finished, the end is written. Jesus Christ, my living hope.” I encourage you to stop and listen to this song and praise the One who has set you free!

We are made to search for God. We need to look up and see, really see.

Jesus is our living hope. There are numerous gods that are worshiped by many but out of all the gods people serve, there is only one living God. Jesus stands supremely over all other deities because of one thing, He resurrected from the dead! He obliterated His competition!

We know this because God gave us the Bible, the inerrant words of God Himself. How it was written makes it stand alone. Throughout the ages, man has tried to discredit it but to no avail! No error is found within its pages and it stands the test of time.

Think about this. Around 1446 BC, in the book of Leviticus, God knew that life was held in the blood; see 17:11. Man did not know this until 1620 when William Harvey discovered this very thing. How did Moses know when writing Leviticus?

In Isaiah, “God sits above the circle of the earth.” (40:22) This was in the time frame of 701-681 BC. While Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492, he experienced that the earth was round. Scientists as well as philosophers and mathematicians probably had that figured out before Columbus. While man thought the world was flat, God already knew. How did Isaiah know?

By these couple of examples, we can see that God knows all things for He is the Creator of science and math. He is the head professor of everything. This proves that we can read from His Word and know that is true. Keep studying truth and see what else you discover within the pages of the book that is the number one best seller of all time.

We are to spring forth His life. We are to bloom where God plants us.

Reread Leviticus 17:11. “For the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the LORD. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.” Way back when, God already had a plan to redeem people back to Himself. Remember, Adam and Eve disrupted the original unity with God by sinning and we are their descendants.

God should have left man alone and let nature takes its course. We would have died off years ago. Instead, He sent His Son to be The Exchange for us. Christ’s blood was given on our behalf. His blood removes our impurities from sin. This is the purification process that needs to take place within each of us.

When we receive what Jesus did for us and follow Him, His blood is upon us. Now, we can cross Jesus’ bridge and walk in unity with God; just like Adam and Eve did in the Garden. Hope is restored; all because we have Living Hope.

Let’s read some more lyrics from the song Living Hope, “Then came the morning that sealed the promise. Your buried body began to breathe. Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion, declared the grave has no claim on me.”

Our Living Hope will lead us out of our bondages of sin.
We must do our part and get up and walk in a whole new way.

May the Living Hope cause such a stir within your soul. May you experience an awakening like no other. May you experience Colossians 2:13-15, “You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ for He forgave all your sins. He cancelled the record of the charges against you and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the cross.” See, Jesus obliterated His competition!

Join with me in dreaming big, dreaming of a world where we all live as one. A world where we are united in love. It can happen, if we all say yes to the Lover of our souls.

Happy Easter my friends.
