Before the sun rises, the world slowly awakens. Birds begin their melodies of faith. They know that the sun will be rising, and light will break through the darkness. They have faith that a new day will soon be upon them.
In the dark they sing, preparing for their day ahead. They are rejoicing that the light of day is approaching. They awaken and respond before they can see. They know what is coming for they follow their Creator. Since God is faithful, the birds can sing to the melodies of faith that God placed within them. Birds understand, actually all nature understands, what faith is.
Faith is believing before you see. It’s trusting God before your day even begins.
Faith is joyful. When you know that God gave you life as well as purpose, you can be happy.
Faith is knowing that God is in control. Those who follow His Son are protected by Him.
Faith is when you are able to accept and surrender to the sovereignty of God and His will for you.
Faith is calming. You can sleep at night knowing God has your back. He becomes your peace.
God gives traits of faith in His Word. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.”
Faith is established through the words of Christ; see Romans 10:17. Jesus brings all people Good News.
The birds exhibit Hebrews 11:1 ESV, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” This is why they can sing so beautifully before the sun rises.
Faith gives way to sight. It is not the other way around. 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we live by believing and not seeing.” Even when life is dark and confusing, you can believe and trust that God will lead you through to a new day. In Lamentations 3 you read, “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. (The birds know with certainty that) the Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!”22-24
Faith gives way to wise thinking. 1 Corinthians 2:5 ESV says, “That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of man but in the power of God.” Read Proverbs 3:1-8 and learn more about wise thinking that gives way to obedient living.
Need a dose of wisdom to deepen your faith? Feeling a bit sluggish, tired, wanting to doubt God? Tired of waiting for your prayers to be answered? Is God slow in delivering what He has for you or what you are hoping for? Be encouraged with James 1:5-8, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke your for asking. But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.”
You can learn much from our feathered friends. They know who they are. They know their purpose. For them, it’s all about glorifying their Maker. It is the same for you too. As you awaken each morning, are you allowing the Son to rise in your heart? Do you prepare yourself for the Light that wants to break through your darkness?
Today is the day, my friend, for the Son to rise upon you. Deepen your faith on this glorious day!
