I have been following God in the dark for almost five years now. In the pitch dark, I might add. All that God gave me was a small flashlight to see just enough ahead so I don’t trip over myself. In the daylight I get distracted, and God needed to keep me dependent on Him for the task that He called me to. My flashlight was the Spirit of God.

God asked me to write out my story, the story of how He made Himself real to me. “Write a book Carol,” God said.
“But God, I can’t do that. I am not a writer. You made me an artist, not a writer. Why do you think I have a graphic design degree? I can’t write something where others would like to read it and that it would make sense.”
“Carol, you know that thing that has been churning inside you for so many years, that dream of significance that makes no sense to you? Yea, I am going to call it out of you. I am going to need you to trust and obey Me. You will be able to do this for I will be with you and lead you each step of the way.”
“God Hears My Heart” is now in print, ready for anyone to read. Check out the Books tab in the menu bar to find links to purchasing it. God will reveal Himself to you, if you are wanting Him to, and your soul will be fed. You also will help feed hungry souls around the world. A percentage of my royalties from book sales will go to Feed My Starving Children.

God is in the business of making us whole spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
Publishing this book is quite humbling to say the least. Looking back at the past five years, God has led me every step of the way. His Spirit remained within me, showing me what to do. There are many stages to writing a book, and I reached each stage unsure, doubting, and always receiving confirmation that I am hearing God correctly.
My book represents TRUST, BELIEVE, PERSEVERANCE, REMAIN FOCUSED, CONFIDENCE, I AM ABLE, STRENGTH, TENACITY or SISU, which is Finnish for determination. It also solidifies what I have come to know about God. He is FAITHFUL, TRUSTWORTHY, GRACIOUS, PATIENT, KIND, and above all LOVING. I knew these things before I began this endeavor so it helped to follow Him when He called me forth for His task at hand.
It is good to get to know God. It is good to become familiar with who He is. It is really good to sit in His presence. For there you become whole. For there you become better. From there you become who He called you to be, and you are able to say yes to His call, no matter how daunting the task that lays before you. You are able.
“Did you know that God wants to begin a good work in you? You possess a worthiness that will make this world better. When God is within you, you have a calling that will bring glory to God as others see His light within you. Philippians 1:6 says, ‘And I am certain that God, who began a good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.’ God is so committed to you that even when you are the farthest from Him, He stands next to you. God loves you, and He wants to have a relationship with you.” (taken from God Hears My Heart, page 98)
You have a message that the world needs to hear.
While it’s a very trying time to follow in the dark with your flashlight, it is also that much more rewarding when you reach the fruition stage. Your faith is stronger. Your God-confidence goes through the roof! You stand taller, braver, more content.
You want everyone to know what God is doing within you. His presence does that, you know. You want everyone to experience His love.
The Apostle Paul lived this way. He first started out hating God and anyone related to His cause. Then God stepped in and stopped him in his tracks! (literally) God blinded Him. God put Him in the dark. He heard the voice of God but his buddies couldn’t hear. They weren’t interested in God. Anyway, God orchestrated the events that lead to Saul becoming Paul, and Paul abruptly changing his life to following his Savior.
In Acts 9:15-16, God shows us why He called Paul and why He calls you and me. “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my messages to the Gentiles and to the kings, as well as to the people of Israel. And I will show him how much he must suffer for my name’s sake.” Go ahead and read Acts 9 to learn Paul’s story, and read through books of the Bible that he penned. God got a hold of his heart and he could not contain it within himself. He wanted the world to know of the love of Christ. This is what churned within me as I matured in my walk with God.

What is God brewing deep within you? What were you made to do? Start by getting to know God. My book is a great resource to begin the greatest journey of your life! We need each other to be who God is calling us to be for this dark world, this evil world, this upside down world needs to be immersed in God’s love.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
