Life would be easier if nothing changed. You would wake up each morning knowing what your day looks like. For some, this would be dreadfully boring, but for others it would mean safety and peace. Each day would come preconditioned with no surprises. I am an odd one for I would like preconditioned days with no surprises. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t need to rely on God if this were true, and God knows this.
So, God allows life on earth to be ever-changing where you don’t know what lies ahead for He wants you to rely solely on Him for EVERYTHING. Look at Hebrews 13:8 for why this is. The only way He can get you to let go of yourself is to place you in constantly changing environments. My family is experiencing a time where my brother still remains in limbo between this earth and the next. Only God knows when Jesus will come for Him. So, those of us on this side of life are waiting. Dan is waiting.
In the waiting you can be sure that God is moving within heaven and hearts.
God places His children in a variety of waiting times. He does this for one reason and one reason only, so you will look up and rely on God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. You are to rely on all three. God allows waiting times to awaken your groggy heart. When life is good, you and I tend to forget God. He gets placed on the back burner. He is told to move aside as you seek the world more than Him.

Waiting for prayers to be answered can cause you to become lethargic towards God. “God, are you hearing me?” It’s easy to become antsy in the waiting. “God, what are you doing?” You lose hope when it appears that God is inactive with your prayers. You feel like you are unworthy to be heard, so you remove your armor, see Ephesians 6:10-17. You doubt God. According to this passage, why is this a bad idea?
Maybe you are waiting for God to open a door of new opportunity? You need a change of pace, a change of scenery, a change of something. “I can’t keep going on this way,” you think to yourself. While you know that God can change your circumstance in an instant, He often doesn’t. He has you wait it out.
In the waiting you can be sure that God is showing you Himself in new and fresh ways.
As you wait, are you willing to be schooled by the Spirit? He is more concerned about the condition of your heart more than what you do in His name. The good works that you do are to be the result of the good work that God is doing within you. Remember, He is preparing you for your eternal home. This side of heaven is temporary, short-lived, and waning in value.
Something radically changes within your heart when you embrace the one thing your heart needs. His name is Jesus. Something wonderful happens within your soul when you accept the fact that He is all you have. Wherever God has you waiting, know that it is not in vain. There is purpose in everything God does. Because you can’t see behind the curtain at the big picture, you are called to trust Him and wait for Him to act on your behalf.
Be encouraged by these scriptures:
Psalm 27:13-14 “Yet, I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
Lamentations 3:25 “The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him.”
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
Micah 7:7 “As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.”
Psalm 33:20-22 ESV “Our souls waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our hearts are glad in Him, because we trust in His holy name. Let our steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in You.”
Psalm 62:5-8 “Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.”
Jesus is your true love. Embrace Him.
