Today will be a day that will go down in American history books. Polar opposite platforms have ensued upon the American people. How will the American people vote? The only good news is that God is in control. He is our only hope in remaining afloat. This is true for every country. When a nation forgoes godly principles, the nation suffers greatly. Read through 1 and 2 Kings and see the kind of kings that ruled back in Old Testament times. There were godly ones, but the majority ruled without God, and you read about the consequences.

The good news about this election is God has already appointed the president. Whether good or bad, God is in charge of who rules in every one of His countries around the world. The earth belongs to Him, you know. While sin has disrupted everything on this side of heaven, God’s plan of redemption through Jesus Christ has not been thwarted! Jesus Christ is the plumb line, which is God’s holy and righteous standard for living; read Amos 7:7-9 for added insight. When man strays away from it, the enemy and sin gain access and they keep you from God.

While I wrestled in the middle of the night over this election, God reminded me of some pertinent truths that reminded me of who is in charge. Here is what the Holy Spirit pressed upon me and may they encourage you:

1. What will the future look like? While I may not know, God does. He has a proven, 100% track record in trusting Him.
2. When I follow Christ, I always have hope. He fights my battles for me. I can relax and abide in His presence while He does. I can remain joyful in the Lord and know that I am not alone.
3. Be expectant to see God move and act. He is moving mightily as a new president is elected. Have you heard of the revivals happening on college campuses? It’s been a fruitful Fall with students. While hurricanes have wreaked havoc in the South, there are testimonies of our great God emerging from the debris.
4. PRAY and continue to pray!
5. God stands with me and gives me strength.
6. The Lord will deliver me from every spiritual attack for God is the God that delivers His people out of bondage. He will protect me and deliver me.
7. Jesus has overcome the world. Satan and sin have been vanquished. Read John 16:16-33 and see how He turns sadness into joy!
8. God is the God that delivers me!
9. Keeping in focus that God is bigger than I can ever imagine. Focus on God and His track record, focus on the hope He gives, live by faith 24/7, recognize His Presence, and ask God to fill me with Himself.
10. Let God move within me. Respond to Him and not to what I fear.
11. Expect good things for the Lord is good.
12. Think positively for that is who God is.
13. Guard my inner voice. Let His Presence change the tone of my inner voice. Live in the present moment rather than worrying about tomorrow. His mercies are new every morning. While my sins are great, His mercies are greater.
14. Be resolved in knowing that God is in charge. He will work things out in His time and His will.
15. Remain faithful to Me.

God has me at this time in history to bring glory to Him, and you are too. This election is simply a “blip” to God. Whatever the outcome, God is in the midst of moving His plan forward. Every child of God is to be excited for He has called us in His great army to stand for such a time as this! God has prepared me as well as His other saints for this time in history. Be strong and courageous for the Lord is with each of us.

So, after today, whoever becomes president, God’s plan for the USA will be carried out. We are inching our way each day to what is still to take place in the Bible, and that is the book of Revelations. Jesus is returning. He will finally put an end to sin and Satan. While we wait for that glorious day, understand that Jesus does return daily for people. While He brings new life into the world each day, He takes life too. No one knows their death date. So, are you ready to stand before Christ if He comes for you today? Have you responded to His salvation offer? Do you repent of your sins and follow after Jesus by learning how to abide in His Presence through His Holy Word?

Jesus is the only way to heaven. The world opposes such nonsense but you can’t change what God deems truth. We each are given the choice to choose, so choose wisely my friends, and abide in God as He leads you each day.
